The Jones Claw

With all the hysteria seeming to sprout like a mob drunken Whirling Dervish from the mouths and pens of conservative homosexuals such as Flint and Heard - and indeed, heterosexual conservatives (but with a little less venom), Alan Jones has been the subject of much media scrutiny over the past week or so.

Below is a photograph captured of him at the races:

The Jones Claw

Jones appears quite fierce in this photo - almost Bear-like one could say.

What the tea lady saw…

The “Mufti of Australia” (yes, the guy who telly school kids when they can wear casual clothes to school instead of a uniform) has released a statement “clarifying” his comments.

Sheik al-Hilali’s statement

Mufti Day

Interestingly enough, apparently it wasn’t he who filled his words with the context of violent crime and degrading attitudes toward innocent women - no, it was:

“some devious groups which lurk in the dark watching me, and who cannot tolerate the moderate, balanced way which I adopt to advocate for women’s issues [italics mine], national harmony and co-existence, and to hold fast to the love of our Australian home, to protect it from all forms of extreme thoughts and to reject all acts of violence and any act that breaches the rule of law.”

Hmmm… well, I tend to believe him, he is an Aussie after all - I mean, he has to be - he supports the Swans and no non-Aussie would even think twice about bothering to even pretend to enjoy AFL.

Some light relief

Bill Leak is a genius - in my opinion, the best cartoonist in Australia - not simply because he is a gifted artist, but because he has his finger on the pulse and crafts his art with a subtle combination of humour and socio-political relevance.

What scum…

The kids who made and participated in the abuse and degradation of the young girl on the now infamous Werribee DVD should be popped in a cell with a violent, lecherous life term inmate in Long Bay Gaol for at least a week.

One really has to wonder what kind of depraved and indifferent people their parents are - raising such filthy, ignorant, immoral animals.

Sadly however, this kind of behaviour is being fostered not only by indifferent parents, but by a vicarious society that in itself is so completely desensitised to anything that doesn’t directly affect it that it will lock children up behind razor wire in the desert…

Cast the first stone…

Mufti

… hmmm, maybe I should rethink the heading - some sects may take that literally - speaking of which, what is the difference between a religion and a cult? A couple of thousand years I would say, but I digress…

Sheik Taj Din al-Hilali is a bloody idiot. It is reported that during a Ramadan sermon, he suggested that perhaps women were somehow responsible for being raped because they “sway suggestively” and wore make-up and immodest dress.

For Satan’s sake, what good is global warming if women have to cover themselves up? The one good thing about the hole in the ozone layer is the fact that it gets hotter earlier and stays so for longer… attractive women dressed appropriately for the season is one of the great things about the Australian summer - and it isn’t just good for the typical hetrosexual male and lesbian - with shirtless young men parading about, women and gay gentlemen (resplendent in flared trousers and orange cravats) also have a veritable visual feast to gorge themselves upon.

summer

But that is the point - is is a visual feast, not a smorgasboard for rapists.

No one can deny that you see many more shirtless men in summer than you do women (which is a pity), yet how often do you hear of gangs of women raping men? You don’t - (and not because such things are considered as fantasy by many men) - but because most women are able to maintain a modicum of decorum (except on hen’s nights) and behave in a socially acceptable manner. Firefox 2 released

Firefox 2

The long awaited second generation of the webs most user, developer and site friendly browser has arrived.

Firefox - or as it was previously known, Firebird, has been, without a doubt, responsible for a dynamic shift in the attitudes of Microsoft toward their own browser.

Internet Explorer, now in its seventh incarnation, unashamedly mimics many of the features of Firefox (though some would suggest that Firefox pinched some of them off Opera).

Back in the “good old days” - when Netscape was run by people who cared, it was the dominant browser - with good reason - it was standards compliant and easy to use.

One rule for the Parrot…

The Parrot

Alan Jones - or The Parrot - as he is affectionately known has gone into hiding.

This is by no means a bad thing, especially those with whom he works who are forced to put up with his foul mouth, impatience and bad temper.
Whilst Jones’ relevance in an age where people are becoming less reliant on the opinions of aging conservatives is on a slippery slope to nowhere, he does hold the ear of a noisy minority who seem to have the ability to drive public debate and shape public opinion.

It may be coincidental that he chose the week in which the unauthorised biography “Jonestown”, written by Chris Masters, was released to disappear, however it is unlikely.

Jones has made a career (and a lot of money) out of making public his (quite conservative) views on many public matters and indeed on persons both public and private yet has traditionally been hyper-sensitive to any kind of analysis or criticism of himself.

The Sydney Morning Herald published an excerpt from the book, a brief, somewhat amusing snippet of which is seen below:

“On the first Saturday of the school year King’s held its Commemoration Day. Parents were invited along to inspect the school, meet the teachers and observe emerging talent. Everyone remembers Commemoration Day 1970, according to one of the minglers: “The whole school was flabbergasted.” Resplendent in flared trousers and orange cravat Alan, unannounced, got to his feet and belted out a number from the West End musical Pickwick, If I Ruled the World. His choice of song still amuses. “His prayer, you might say,” murmured one of those who would later clash with Jones. The aspiring tenor, who takes his singing seriously, was devastated when a few of the staff burst out laughing. The King’s community had not waited long to experience their first Jones moment.”

A week of insanity

Something is drastically wrong with this country.

It has been going south for quite a while, but in the past week, things have been quite insane.

Firstly the board of the ABC - hand picked by John Howard - introduce “guidelines” that will prevent a supposed bias (read:honest opinion) at the national broadcaster.

Kim Jong Il is mad, a complete nutter - but it can’t be denied that he is also a highly amusing guy.

What is it one must ask, about short men in power that leads them to often becoming crazed dictators - or indeed, short men in general? Look at the following examples:
